Lightheaded — why now?

For about the last six months, after an especially streneous workout (squats, power cleans, etc), I'm light headed just after I set the weights down.  I've googled a bit, and it seems that it's quite normal, and the cause is a fast blood pressure drop, after the increase caused by the streneous work.

But, the thing I'm pondering is — why now?  I've been exercising off and on (year on, two years off, etc), since I was a teen ager.  The only thing I can come up with is that my resting blood pressure is a bit lower than it used to be (due to dropping > 70lbs).  So, maybe that is the cause of this "new" annoyance?

Thoughts?

I'd take a look more at your diet than anything else at the moment.

The only time I have ever got to feeling the weakness and light headed after work outs are when I'm deficient in caloric intake.  If you are maintaining a diet that you were using to cut weight, but pressing larger demands on muscles then something will give.

I asked my Doctor during my physical.  And, it's due to a couple of things:

1) I now have much lower blood pressure than before .. . Rocking a 105/60ish.  So, the post BP spike dip (the BP dip that always occurs after a spike cause by exertion) is now even lower.

2) I was not hydrating enough after getting out of bed.  I typically dont' start drinking water till after my workout.  (I mean, I sip when thirsty, but, I'm going to try downing a liter or two before my workout now)

I'll let you know how that works out for me.  I do know that I don't really get light headed on Saturdays when I workout around noon, and have drank more . . . .
