We don’t tend to take the same kinds of vacations as your average folks (understatement). Instead, we book our days off around things like Comic-Con, or GenCon, or Dragon*Con, or DEFCON, or BlizzCon, or Name-That-Con. As Krystalle discussed while she was at E3, these aren’t exactly the places where healthy eating living is the first thing on anybody’s agenda. We pretty much want to remain sort of upright and conscious enough to enjoy the celebrities, friends, and other assorted shenanigans we’re up to our pointed ears in (whether they’re Vulcan or Elfin is a matter of personal taste).
However, we don’t need to discount the incentive these sorts of things can provide, even if we’re not booking a fitness adventure vacation as a way to motivate ourselves. For some of us, just knowing that we’re going to be wearing something vaguely ridiculous and possibly revealing is enough for the impetus not to be mortified to get us in gear. This has factored rather prominently in my own endeavors of late.
Putting ourselves under the gun, whether it’s knowing we’re getting on a boat [gratuitously NSFW link alert!] to ply some tropical waters, dressing up as a muscular purple elf, or even scheduling a photo shoot to have nice pictures for our FaceBook profile (or to send to family for the holidays) might be just the extra incentive it takes.
